A site-specific sculpture exhibited at Museo Galileo

In June, there was ‘Museo Galileo’s Tuesday’ at the Florentine Institute – and Stella Battaglia’s site-specific installation Nello Studio (In The Studio) was exhibited.

The photographic image covers a sculpture of a woman surrounded by books, in such a way that the projection is worn almost like skin. At the heart of the technique used by the artist, you will find the same geometric-optic principles used by ancient astronomers to observe the celestial vault.

It’s a meeting point of video-projection, photography and sculpture, where perspective tradition is revisited through the video-installation.
